The result of the first official selection of green data centers in Beijing is newly revealed. Nine data center companies including Chindata Group have made the cut of Beijing Green Data Center (the first batch) demonstration list. As announced by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, nine green data center including Wangjing Data Center, Chindata Group Beijing were selected as the Beijing Green Data Center (the first batch).

This result manifests Chindata Group's determination to pursue green leadership and sustainable development.

The site selection of data centers in Capital-rim, Yangtze River Delta and Guangdong-HK-Macao Greater Bay Area all center around places where renewable energy is produced and “wasted wind and power”are abound, activating local green energy dynamics. At the same time, Chindata Group purchased green and clean energy through relevant mechanisms in the layout area of the big data industrial base, increased the proportion of green energy use, and effectively consumed the local "wasted wind and power" energy.

In addition, Chindata Group adopted a series of innovative green energy-saving patented designs and technologies all the way through design to operation stage, creating a series of new benchmarks for the industry. At the same time, Chindata Group also adopted green building design in terms of building topologies and building maintenance, and adopted photovoltaic lighting in the campus to further reduce energy consumption and achieve environmentally-friendly sustainable development goals.
In May 2019, in order to accelerate the construction of the Beijing Green Data Center and carry forward the experience of green data center establishment, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology formulated the “Beijing Green Data Center Evaluation Specification (Trial)” and launched the Beijing Green Data Center (First batch) collection.

It is learned that the green data center application this time requires companies to actively implement the concept of green development, typically represent the industry, and has a strong business strength. The green data center applied should also have clear and complete physical boundaries, which must comply with relevant requirements of the national authorities to conduct business in compliance with laws and regulations.

The companies rated as green data centers this time will enjoy a package of supporting policies. For example, an enterprise that has obtained the qualification of Beijing Green Data Center be given the qualification of Beijing electricity power marketization if it meets relevant requirements. At the same time, data center enterprises are encouraged to use advanced green energy-efficient technologies and products to carry out energy-efficient technological transformation.
