Dear Chindata colleagues,

Simplicity is the way forward. These are the words I shared with you all three years ago. Today, we have achieved another major milestone, as Chindata is now publicly listed on Nasdaq. My dear brothers and sisters, this achievement is only made possible because of you, your genuine passion, dedication and determination. 

Today, I want to reiterate those same words: Simplicity is the way forward. On our journey into the future, please join me to march forward toward the most direct and focused path. 

Since Chindata was founded in 2015, I have personally led and we have been deeply involved in almost every single major transformation of the data center solution industry. As a pioneer spearheading the industry’s evolution, we have formed a unique perspective and stood firm in our judgement about the industry’s trajectory, regardless of the ups and downs in the sector’s development.

Through self-reflection over time, I am certain that what’s been driving my pursuit of entrepreneurship is the mission to create a great platform that accomplishes the following goals: 

First, as a public infrastructure, this platform should be altruistic in nature, benefitting the public and promoting openness. 

Second, with an unprecedented business model, the focus of our organization should be to solve problems and address challenges. This requires strategic thinking, discipline, and team unity to execute. 

Last but not least, Chindata is committed to serving leading digital companies by overseeing their critical assets. We seek to understand and satisfy the most important demands of clients, and we will keep striving to provide added value to their businesses with innovative services that better serve their needs.

It takes many phases to create a great platform. To simplify the process, those phases include zero to one, from one to more, and from more to infinity. 

We have completed the phase from zero to one. This phase is a major breakthrough and we’ve made it. Now on the journey from one to more, we need to have embrace our strength in our approach, execute at the very highest level and be disciplined to move beyond strategic planning to step into a bigger world. 

We still have a long way to go to move from our current success to an even greater future. This requires collective effort from every one of us to embrace the ever-changing trends of the industry, to never lose sight of why we started, to accomplish our mission.

My colleagues, our journey ahead is long and promising, filled with great opportunities as well as challenges. I am hoping that when you read my next letter, we will share the beautiful views we’ve seen, the authentic changes we’ve made, and the impactful milestones we’ve achieved along the way.
