On March 17, Forbes China and Frost & Sullivan jointly announced the 2026 Pioneer Innovators in Industry Development Selection. Nick Wang, President of Chindata Group, earned a place on the list for his first-principles thinking and his track record in compute-energy innovation and customer value creation, making him the only data center executive selected this year. 

The selection spans key sectors including AI, consumer goods, clean energy, and manufacturing. Over four months of rigorous multi-round evaluation, the program aims to identify the industry's leading pioneers, champion a long-term outlook, and encourage companies to stay focused through disruption, find new footing amid challenges, embrace cross-sector collaboration, and put sustainability into practice, all toward building a more resilient and dynamic industry. 

As early as 2020, drawing on deep analysis of data center operations, Nick Wang identified what he saw as the industry's foundational principle: efficiently converting electrical power into compute. That conviction became the strategic cornerstone of Chindata's evolution, orienting the company toward a compute-energy synergy model. In December 2025, Chindata and HEC Group established a presence in Ulanqab, jointly pursuing an integrated production-compute-power approach that aims to deliver the industry's first GW-scale, vertically integrated green power direct-supply zone through low-cost, sustainable energy solutions. 

Nick Wang's Capex-to-Opex conversion strategy pushed Chindata's PUE and WUE performance to best-in-class levels, consistently lowering operating costs for clients and deepening what has become a genuinely symbiotic relationship with its most strategic customers. As of end-2025, rack utilization across Chindata's operational data centers exceeded 90%, with long-term customer retention approaching 100%. 

Chindata CEO Wu Huapeng congratulated Nick Wang on the recognition, noting that the honor speaks to both Nick's entrepreneurial drive and forward-looking vision, and to Chindata's growing influence as a foundational enabler at the intersection of two major technology shifts: AI and clean energy. Chindata will continue advancing its full-stack data center solutions, building a more efficient, intelligent, and zero-carbon compute foundation, and pushing the industry toward a new standard of excellence.
